ABOUT

Dawson Akers (b. 2005) is a globally-known composer, conductor, and vocalist whose compositions blends Romantic, contemporary, and cinematic influences to create intensely emotionally resonant music. He is studying composition with Dr. Thomas Couvillon at Eastern Kentucky University. Drawing inspiration from a wide array of musical traditions and styles, Dawson's compositions evoke powerful imagery and portray complex narratives.

Known for his Romantic period inspiration, musical storytelling, and varied instrumentation, his music has been featured in award-winning short films across the country. His music has also earned him admission to the 2026 ICEBERG Institute in Orlando, Florida, a Certificate of Music from the National Society of Arts and Letters, and numerous finalist or above positions in composition competitions across the globe. Through his work, Dawson strives to inspire, challenge, and connect with listeners worldwide.
